Question by GirlfromBoston: Where can I download the software that came with Canon t1i?
I bought this camera when it first came out, and at that time, I only had a desk top computer, so the program which allows you to access the controls of your camera from your computer were a little useless to me at the time. Now that I have a laptop, I’d like to install the software that came with the camera. Problem is, I have no idea where I put it. I spent two days digging through my house for it, and no luck. I found software from 1993, and probably a hundred programs that are completely outdated (so I’m sure I wouldn’t have thrown this one out).

If anyone has this camera, could you tell me the name of the program/s that came with the included CD’s. I have the “Canon Step up Photography” CD, but thats not the one I’m looking for. The one that I need is the one that allows you to plug your camera into your computer, and control the settings/photos/etc from there so you don’t even have to touch the camera if you don’t want to. I went on Canons download website http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/eos_slr_camera_systems/eos_digital_slr_cameras/eos_rebel_t1i and I’m not sure which one I need.

I’d really appreciate your help.

Best answer:

Answer by Tommy
The canon program that allows you to control the camera remotely I believe is called EOS Utility.

And I do not think you can download that from Canon, only the updaters. They make you buy another CD.

What do you think? Answer below!

Question by Emmaleiqh, <3: How do i become an amazing photographer?Pix included!?
So photography is my passion, no lie, first thing i think of every morning when i wake up is, “How do i become good at photography!?”

I have tried, but not too hard at all, that’s because i don’t know where to start. I would love to be able to do some of the stunning photography, like on photobucket but i just don’t know how, i don’t know what kind of editing it right for a specifc picture, and i need creative ideas. Could someone please tell me how to get started, i already have a digital camera, just please, i’m dying for some ideas!

Something like this…

or like this..

http://i373.photobucket.com/albums/oo173/AeroLuver95/molly.jpg

Btw, i love scene-yy stuff so, things like that would help too!

10 points to the best answer!

or

Best answer:

Answer by Kendra.
I think you need a couple things:
-a good camera.
-a scenery that has good lighting.
-a good editing software.

Really, neither of those two photographs are too spectacular.
I think they are just average pictures with good coloring.
You need to know how to mess with:

-saturation.
-contrast.
-brightness.

Editing is truly key, because other than having a good photo from the get-go, you need to be able to fix it to make it look stunning.

Thanks!

Bob, I don’t know what focus and composition is much less what makes mine problematic. I think teenagers take pictures of things that they would otherwise be uninterested in because they enjoy seeing them in the different light that a camera offers, same as many adults. I’m sorry that you didn’t enjoy my pictures as much as I do. I hope to someday have a portfolio that will impress even the best. Thanks everybody!

Question by aslan: How do I convince my Dad to let me buy a Holga camera?
So lately I’ve become really interested in “experimental photography” and in pursuing this I was hoping to purchase a Holga 120CFN, which is a vintage plastic toy camera, featuring extreme vignetting, light leaks, very vibrant colours and quite often has oversaturated results, all part of the character of these photos. My Dad disagrees with my choice, to which his argument is always “You have a digital SLR, make the most of it, it’s very uneconomical when you think of developing costs, you can do these crazy effects on photoshop etc etc” He does not understand the whole concept of the toy camera and the ‘unpredictability’ that comes along with it, or even just owning such a cute camera. Any suggestions for comebacks that might win him over?

Best answer:

Answer by Diverging Point
Actually, some of the effects you described aren’t solely because of the camera. Some of the pictures you described, which have very vibrant, over saturated colors could be because the film was “cross processed” when it was developed. Cross processing is when you deliberately develop film in the wrong chemicals – such as developing color print (C-41) film in chemicals normally used for slide film…or vice versa. This can cause the pictures to have really weird colors with a lot of contrast.

There are a lot of other interesting experiments you can do with film, like “Bleach Bypass.” This is when the lab skips a bleach step that is normally done when developing color film. It gives the pictures a really weird, surreal look with muted colors. They actually use it in movies a lot to create a certain mood. I know they used it in “Terminator: Salvation” and “Minority Report” and I think it was also used in “Saving Private Ryan.” (And YES, most movies are still shot on film!)

If you want to try things like Cross Processing or Bleach Bypass, you’d have to find a lab that can do it. Most 1-hour photo labs won’t do any custom processes like that. You’d have to send your film to a professional lab. There are a lot of professional photo labs though, just do a search on Google and find a lab that develops 120 film and see if they have custom developing.

I will say one thing though…Holgas really are just crappy, overpriced plastic toy cameras. Yeah you can get some interesting and creative pictures with them sometimes, but they’re mostly just a fad right now. They’re a rip-off. If you really want to get into film photography, there are MUCH better film cameras you can get.

Wayzata, MN (PRWEB) January 17, 2011

TN Marketing is excited to announce the launch of the Ultimate PhotoGuide™ website (http://www.UltimatePhotoGuide.com). The website is focused on providing educational tips and techniques for photography enthusiasts looking to get the most out of their digital SLR.

What makes Ultimate PhotoGuide (UPG) unique among photography websites is its video content. The website builds on the educational video content that is part of Ultimate PhotoGuide’s Digital Photography Series. The Digital Photography Series is a comprehensive DVD series of in-depth photography lessons demonstrated by professional photographers. Ultimate PhotoGuide has already shipped more than 150,000 DVDs to digital photography enthusiasts, ranging from beginners to pros.

The website continues the educational theme of the DVDs by providing additional free video content that addresses digital SLR photographers’ biggest questions on the “how” behind breathtaking photos. The website includes original video tips and techniques produced by Ultimate PhotoGuide as well as hundreds of videos collected from the Internet. Visitors will also find a variety of helpful instructional articles on the website. The articles, authored by photography professionals, cover a variety of topics including industry news, lighting, and post processing.

We are also pleased to have f-stop Fitzgerald® join us as managing editor for the Ultimate PhotoGuide website. F-Stop is an author, photographer, and successful business owner with experience in the publishing, printing and photographic industries. “I’m excited to be a part of a website that blends traditional print instruction with video-based instruction,” said Fitzgerald. “The video element helps bring to life topics that can be sometimes difficult to understand in print form.” In his role as managing editor, Fitzgerald will help set the editorial direction of the website and work to identify strategic partners and advertisers in the photography industry.

Other highlights of the website include a free e-newsletter, product reviews, a member forum to facilitate an exchange of ideas on photography topics plus resource list, including manufacturers, galleries, and photography workshops.

The Ultimate PhotoGuide website is certain to become the leading destination for new photographers and seasoned veterans to get great how-to video content to enhance their photography skills.
